Development, Associate

Location: Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Illinois, NY or Denver.

About the Role

The Development Associate, reporting to the Director or Manager of Development and can be remote with a strong preference to be based in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Illinois, or Denver. Travel to regional markets will be required roughly 25%. The role is responsible for cross-discipline coordination with Permitting, Environmental, Land, Title, Design, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, etc. in the planning, development, & execution of projects.

 

Responsibilities

Research and Intelligence

  • Research County, Municipality, and State regulations, bylaws, and ordinances
  • Interpret and clarify Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) policy and make recommendations to Development Team 
  • Chart and manage project schedules & budgets
  • Create and launch regulatory stakeholder engagement

Permitting

  • Review and approve permit matrices; coordinate materials required for permit submittals
  • Integrate design and land constraints into project site plans
  • Complete and submit permit applications and proactively drive permitting schedules
  • Engage with AHJs; present project proposals and guide permit discussions and processes
  • Oversee and guide AHJ approvals and permit requirements
  • Create & execute permit conditions trackers; lead efforts for permit updates & re approvals

Community / Landowner Relations

  • Research & model taxes, PILOTs, decommissioning requirements, incentive applications, and surety agreements and funds
  • Represent Company with landowners. Attend landowner & community townhalls as needed
  • Build long-term, positive, trusting relationships with all stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, energy, law or other related discipline is preferred. 
  • 1-3 years applicable experience in project development/management, preferably renewable energy development
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver complete and quality projects.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineering, development, and leadership.
  • Excellent organizational, critical analysis skills and communication skills. 
  • Direct experience with utilities and ISOs/RTOs. 
  • Direct experience with the United States electrical grid. 

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $75,000 – $105,000 USD per annum
