Our History

Founded in 2009, we have grown from an ambitious solar developer to an emerging global energy transition supermajor. 

  • Amp's story begins in Toronto, Canada
  • Amp's first project on London's TD Bank branch is installed
  • First 20MW rooftop solar developed and built
  • Toronto District School Board
    As a result of an innovative and well-structured bid, Amp is awarded a contract with the Toronto District School Board, to build 66MW of solar on 450 school roofs
  • Amp acquires two utility-scale projects in Ontario
  • Amp successfully co-develops a 23MW project in Jordan
  • Amp successfully wins the contract to develop assets across Canadian Tire stores in Ontario

    Amp enters the UK market through an Apollo-backed joint-venture targeting utility-scale and distributed generation solar. This JV ultimately develops, builds and secures debt financing for a large-scale portfolio of 140MW of solar generating assets across the UK

  • JV with CBRE Caledon
    Equity investment agreement and JV created with CBRE Caledon to deploy $140 million into late-stage development assets in Japan, US and India. Amp provides all development, acquisition, debt financing, construction and asset management services

    Dave is the Founder, President and CEO of Amp, responsible for the company’s global vision and strategy. Since founding Amp, Dave has led the company’s significant global growth into a number of markets throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Dave continues to lead the company into the future which will include a diversified portfolio across multiple technologies.

    Shawn was with Amp from 2009 - 2014 and rejoined in 2020 as CFO. Shawn heads up Finance, Compliance, HR and IT. Over his combined tenure at Amp, Shawn and his executive team originated or acquired over 100MWs of solar projects representing over $300M in assets. Shawn also facilitated the US$374M Carlyle Group investment at Amp.

    With over 15 years of experience in the solar industry Jared leads the US development team. Over the last five years Jared’s team has developed, sold, built and/or financed over 500 MW of solar PV and energy storage projects in North America. His team is responsible for originating, structuring, financing, building and operating projects that target utility, commercial and agricultural sector opportunities across Canada and the USA.
